Request a Paid Duty Officer
INFORMATION FOR THE REQUESTER REGARDING PAID DUTY PROCEDURE
The current constable paid duty rate is $109.16 an hour including tax, with a four-hour minimum. If the event requires four or more officers, one must be a supervisor. The current supervisor paid duty rate is $123.35 an hour including tax, with a four-hour minimum.
The current vehicle paid duty rate is $63.28 including tax for up to and including 8 hours; vehicles required beyond 8 hours are rated at $7.91 per hour. Paid duty officers are mandated to use Kingston Police vehicles.
If the paid duty continues past the scheduled end time by the requester, at fifteen minutes past the hour, an additional hourly rate (for each extra hour worked and the applicable administration fee) shall be invoiced.
Requesters are subject to a minimum cost of four hours and administration fees for each officer requested if notice of a cancellation or reduction of officers is not received at least 72 hours before the paid duty service is scheduled to begin.
Paid Duty requests should be made at least 96 hours (four days) before the scheduled start time of the paid duty. Requests received by the Kingston Police liaison or designate, or Officer in Charge, within less than 96 hours (four days) of the scheduled start time shall incur an administrative fee of $75.00 in addition to all other fees normally charged.
Each request, will be reviewed to ensure that it falls within the mandate of the Paid Duty Section. The number of officers and vehicles based on risk assessment will be determined by the Kingston Police liaison or designate, or Officer in Charge.
NOTE: The Paid Duty Coordinator works Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. not including statutory holidays. Paid duty requests will only be addressed during this time period.
